Maryland Courts is Hiring a Protective Intelligence Analyst Near Annapolis, MD

The Protective Intelligence Analyst (PIA) is the central administrator of the Maryland Judiciary's proactive, statewide efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate possible threats to targeted individuals or groups based on collected intelligence. PIA responsibilities include developing and executing a process to collect information through investigative methods, open-source research, social media accounts, specialized databases, NCIC, and other records on those who have the means and the interest in targeting members of the organization on an ongoing basis. The incumbent interacts regularly with other professionals and law enforcement agencies, as well as with Government Relations and Public Affairs on critical issues.

This position coordinates all aspects of proactive and ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of judicial officials and other key personnel, develops and disseminates best practices, addresses urgent inquiries from justices, judges, and other judicial officers.

This position may be required to work after-hours to analyze and disseminate critical information regarding possible threats to judicial officials.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Three (3) years of investigations/data analysis experience.

Licenses and Certifications required:

Threat Assessment Certification is preferred. If the selected candidate does not possess a certification at the time of hire, they have up to one year after their hire date to obtain a Threat Assessment certification based on course availability.

Note:

Additional related work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of classified and open-source research and data analysis methods and techniques

Ability to collect, assemble, analyze, and evaluate evidence, statistics, and other pertinent information to draw logical conclusions to effectively inform protective action.

Knowledge of statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel or other data management software.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a wide range and number of audiences.

Ability to work with federal, state, and local law enforcement databases.

Ability to prepare graphs, charts, tables, maps, and other illustrative devices from collected data or visual presentations.

Ability to understand and follow directives, instructions, and standard operating procedures. Strong report writing skills.

Ability to engage disparate stakeholder groups and achieve buy-in on the importance of proactive security processes.

Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve defined goals

Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to work with a high degree of independence

Skills in proficient use of security investigative software products.

Knowledge of federal/state/local rules and regulations for redaction of personal information from public records.
