Mary Place is Hiring a Housing Manager Near UNKNOWN, WA

Description: Mary’s Place provides safe and inclusive shelter and services for women, children, and families on their journey out of homelessness. We operate a women’s day center and several 24x7 family centers/shelters in King County. We serve hundreds of families–moms, dads, and children–providing a safe place for them to be inside and together at night, along with food, showers, clothing, and access to housing and employment resources. The Housing Manager is a responsible and motivated individual with a passion for serving families experiencing homelessness. The Housing Manager will supervise a team of Housing Specialists who work alongside families in shelter to obtain permanent housing. This individual will develop and maintain records of clients' progress, complete reports on program outcomes, provide supervision, and supportive services as needed.
This is a full-time, exempt position that requires the availability to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays. The Housing Manager works across and directly supervises staff working across multiple sites, primarily our South Lake Union, Kenmore, and Bellevue locations. This position reports to the Housing Director. The starting salary is $70,000 - $73,000 DOE.
Key Responsibilities• Ensure the team’s timely and accurate input of data on an ongoing basis• Develop and facilitate trainings and workshops for staff• Develop and maintain accurate data procedures and regularly train department to accurately use these data procedures• Complete monthly and quarterly data and narrative reports on program performance• Lead By Name List meetings that review families on a bi-weekly basis• Assure that clients and volunteers are treated with respect and dignity regardless of race, ethnic background, gender, or socioeconomic background• Provide specialists with up-to-date resources for referrals for families• Embrace and model Housing First principles and implement programming that promotes those principles• Support families with advocating for their needs and accessing services and resources in the community• Act as a liaison between families, support services, landlords, and involved community agencies and maintain ongoing communication with other providers as needed• Support Housing Specialist Team with creative problem solving, identifying solutions, and navigating challenges on an ongoing basis• Support families when there is a gap in staffing, or if a team member is out of the office for any reason• Review direct client assistance requests by confirming appropriate documentation and protocols have been accurately followed prior to approval• Review specialist’s input of guest records and electronic files in required database systems• Maintain accurate and timely statistics and documentation to meet program goals and contractual requirements• Maintain accurate time sheets for all staff• Complete annual reviews in a timely manner and 90-day reviews for all new staff• Participate in regular staff meetings and one-on-ones with Housing Specialists and the Assistant Manager• Embrace the Mary’s Place mission of empowering homeless families and adhere to staff guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:

Skills/Qualifications Required

  • College degree in social services or related field; experience working in a shelter setting or with homeless population strongly desired
  • Two years or more of supervisory experience
  • Understanding of issues related to poverty, homelessness and the educational and social service systems that serve low-income people
  • Sensitivity to the needs of clients who are experiencing homelessness, low income, limited English speaking, or impacted by domestic violence, substance abuse or other barriers to employment
  • Commitment to diversity and ability to work well with diverse family styles and multiethnic populations
  • Ability to set appropriate boundaries and maintain calm demeanor in a chaotic setting
  • Strong communication and documentation skills Basic knowledge of Housing First principles
  • Demonstrated problem solving, conflict mediation, and crisis management skills
  • Ability to manage agency funds with discretion and accuracy
  • Access to reliable transportation, valid driver’s license vehicle insurance that meets Washington State’s minimum guidelines, and the ability and willingness to travel throughout King County on a daily basis
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in response to family needs
  • Willingness and ability to work with people from a variety of racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds with various lifestyles, sexual orientations, and of all ages and genders
  • Strong understanding of/commitment to the Mary’s Place mission of empowering homeless women, children, and families
  • Attention to detail, interacting with others in-person and through email, using critical thinking skills to strategize, develop and implement business plans, create and edit documents, listen and participate verbally at meetings

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to converse with and listen to people in many different settings
  • Ability to use a computer and telephone, as well as other standard office equipment
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds
  • Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required
  • Travel to program sites and meetings outside the site and around the county is necessary
  • Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogs

  • Medical and dental insurance with the cost for core employee coverage paid at 100% by the company and competitive family rates
  • Basic Life Insurance of $50,000 at no cost to employee; option to buy up for additional coverage
  • 403(b) plan with a 50% employer match on the first 6% employee contribution. Eligible to participate upon hire; eligible for the match after first year of employment.
  • Unlimited use ORCA pass for a small deduction per pay period
  • 10 days paid time off (PTO) each calendar year (accrued by pay period)
  • 10 days of sick time each calendar year (accrued by pay period)
  • 10 days of flexible floating holidays each calendar year (accrued 40 hours on January 1st and 40 hours on July 1st). Prorated based on date of hire for first year of employment.
