Summary

Are you a passionate and committed Early Educator?

We are seeking a dynamic teacher to be part of our early childhood program!

Position responsibilities include working as part of a team, curriculum planning and implementation, collaboration with families and agencies, and supporting children's learning. Full time opportunity with benefit package. A background or experience in Early Childhood preferred. The Mary Johnson Children's Center Programs support the importance of learning through play; programs evolve depending on the interests of children, teachers, and families. We believe that all families are experts on their children and want what is best for them. Experience and training in early childhood education along with a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of young children, energy, and enthusiasm. This position requires the employee to be physically able to stand, sit or kneel for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, and work both indoors and outdoors year-round.

Duties
  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met along with your teaching team
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer skills
  • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment
  • A strong understanding of child development
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification
  • State of Vermont required trainings
  • Must clear full background check
  • Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
