Position: Recreation Aide Childcare (After School Program)
Pay: $13.79/hr.
Hours: Monday through Friday 12pm-6pm year-round
Locations available in Stuart and Jensen Beach

SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, the purpose of this position is to supervise children and participants in recreational programs and to provide clerical/general support for recreational activities at County recreation facilities. Employees in this classification perform childcare and clerical and recreation support work. Position is responsible for monitoring children and participants, answering questions from public, maintaining records, opening/closing facilities, setting up and breaking down of events and activities, monitoring assigned recreation activities and facility usage, performing minor maintenance and custodial duties, and other general support activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizes and monitors groups of children in afterschool and summer camp programs; responsible for the care of all children in programs assigned to. 
Prepares reports, sets up activities and play, and monitors operational procedures pertaining to recreational programming.
Ensures equipment, materials, and facilities are clean, safe, and in proper working condition and reports any damaged or unsafe equipment to supervisor.
Assists in collecting fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals.
Renders CPR/First Aid, according to level of training, in the case of an injury and reports all injuries to supervisor.
Maintains supplies and materials; performs light maintenance and custodial duties.
Assists with set up and break down of events and activities. 
Attends work on continuous and regular basis.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to monitor and instruct children in assigned recreational programs.
Ability to manage a group of children in assigned care.
Ability to work with all types of adults and children, including individuals with disabilities.
Ability to maintain discipline and to solve disciplinary problems.
Knowledge of rules, regulations, and safety precautions related to recreational activities.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions, oral and written.
Ability to effectively work with and to secure the confidence and cooperation of participations, program providers and user groups, the general public, and other parks and recreation employees.
Ability to contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.
Knowledge of basic office equipment, including cash registers and personal computers and software applications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with others and members of the public.
Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must possess one (1) year of experience in monitoring activities and programs for children, monitoring children, and/or monitoring parks and recreation facilities. Experience in physical education, special recreation, and summer camp/after school programs preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have reliable transportation; a valid Florida Driver’s License is preferred.
First Aid and CPR certification required within the first six (6) months of hire and maintain same certifications as a condition of continued employment. 
Must be able to complete forty (40) hours of required training and testing through the Department of Children and Families within the first year of hire. Must be able to complete ten (10) hours of required training for every subsequent year.

Frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
