Position Title: Clinician I (Non-Licensed)
Reports to: Licensed Clinical Supervisor
Salary Starting at: $66,650
Description/Summary
of the Position: Provides strengths-based, trauma-informed, targeted case management services, rehabilitative skill development, therapy, treatment coordination, collaboration with the treatment team or other providers, advocacy, and linkage to community resources as identified by client need, and collaboration with the other members of the client’s support network.
The Mental Health Clinician II is distinguished from Mental Health Clinician I in that the MHCI is unlicensed, whereas the MHC II is licensed.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provides direct mental health services to agency-approved and contracted clientele.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  • Client centered advocacy: Assess clients' needs and level of care, provide referrals and resources, and collateral involvement with families and other professionals and with the treatment team.
  • Ensures that services provided to clients are culturally sensitive and in the client’s primary language; ensures that religious and ethnic issues pertinent to the client’s condition and plan of care is incorporated into the psychosocial assessment and treatment plan.
  • Documentation: Includes various assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries etc. in the electronic health record, releases of information, and other needed documents for individual clients. All documentation to be legible, timely, and expressed concisely and clearly.
  • Meeting attendance: Attend clinical meetings as well as educational workshops, and agency committees when requested.
  • Exhibits a flexible and proactive approach to changes in the workplace.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the organization’s values and mission statement.
  • Demonstrates reliability and professionalism.
  • Utilizes formal and informal educational opportunities to increase clinical competence.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing and able to work at all locations as needed to meet patient care needs.
  • Must be willing and able to work all business hours including evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEMaster’s degree in Social Work (ASW) or Marriage and Family Therapy (AMFT) or Clinical Professional Counselor (APCC) required.
License Required
Registration required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) or Associate Marriage Family Therapist (AMFT) or Associate Professional Counselor (APCC).
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES Preferred (Ideal Candidate)
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a must.
  • One-year post-master’s experience in a clinical setting and/or prior experience in a community-based organization or social services setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a logical approach to decision-making with appropriate analysis of outcomes.
  • Informs Clinical Supervisor of pertinent issues in a timely manner.
  • Able to be an effective, proactive problem solver through active problem identification and communication.
  • In-depth knowledge of clinical theories and issues pertaining to the position’s target population.
  • Strong clinical skills in building effective therapeutic alliance that is culturally competent, strength-based and trauma informed.
  • Ability to work under pressure, respond to crisis situations, and to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Effective computer skills in work processing, online communication, navigation of electronic databases and website resources, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Prior experience with electronic medical records preferred.
