The Manager, Digital Standards & Governance is an advocate of compliance and adoption of common capabilities built for our Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platform and products. As Marriott scales the AEM platform across our global digital properties, this role will manage the development and adoption of common capabilities to ensure cohesion across all digital platforms.

The person in this role will work with the Director, Digital Standards & Governance to build the Marriott Voyager Design System and manage compliance to our global digital standards. You will assist in identifying, analyzing and improving upon operational processes as part of this role. In addition, this position will ensure effective communications, training, and adherence to standards and guidelines across all digital product squads.

The role requires technical understanding and experience working with common CMS platforms, as well as a solid understanding of the design to development process. Experience with Jira Cloud features and how they should be leveraged to increase efficiency across the digital organization is a must-have. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • A 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related major or equivalent experience is required
  • 5 years’ experience in the hospitality or digital industry, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
  • 5 years of mature agile experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Experience managing multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
  • Excellent program management skills to lead teams in distributed environments involved in delivering complex business systems
  • Relationship-building skills as well as strong leadership and team management skills, with deep understanding of business impact on delivery
  • Strong planning skills including the ability to develop detailed presentations, roadmaps and spreadsheets
  • Strong interpersonal and meeting facilitation skills required to lead and manage all team members, internal and external clients, vendors and meetings
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills that inspire team confidence while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner

 Preferred:

  • Master’s degree 
  • PMP certification and/or scrum certification
  • Experience with industry standard agile software development tools (e.g. Jira Cloud)

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Work, Projects, and Policies

  • Oversee the development and measurement of Marriott’s Voyager Design System, including intake request management and task tracking across our partner teams in Jira Cloud
  • Ensure common capabilities are developed as expected by managing UAT processes
  • Lead common capability adoption efforts across all product squads, including adoption of new or updated design components and brand guidelines
  • Assist in managing the roadmap and evolution of a comprehensive reference site (e.g. components, visual design elements) that provides the information needed to efficiently build customer-centric, quality products at scale
  • Provide solutions for expansion of the reference site to house all digital standards, including connections to Storybook code and other necessary APIs. 
  • Serve as vendor liaison and manager of the team’s development partners
  • Ensure each area’s foundational standards are up to date (UX, Tagging, QA, ADA, Content)
  • Liason with the AEM platform leads and all digital product squad leads
  • Serve as an expert in the Digital Organization’s common capabilities, ensuring adoption amongst all product squads. 
  • Maintain and ensure established processes are followed across all product squads
  • Create training materials and provide training and assistance on best practices related to using common capabilities
  • Build strong relationships across all disciplines and stakeholders
  • Provide insights from experience, best practices, and lessons learned to drive the Digital organization’s quality and productivity
  • Craft and implement communications strategies to support change efforts
  • Prepare for and mitigate risks for process and capability changes
  • Establish metrics and measure impact of process changes for the organization
  • Track and monitor product status, quality, issues and milestones with escalation as required
  • Manage team reporting to the Digital leadership team and external stakeholders
  • Ensure risks, dependencies, and decisions are effectively communicated and managed 
  • Develop and manage outbound communications to other groups and partners throughout Marriott 
  • Assist in overseeing program budgets and timelines

  • Oversee and monitor the work of our partners, representing cross discipline functions, to ensure on-time project completion while meeting expectations

  • Assist in developing SOWs within the framework of Marriott’s master consulting agreements and work with the contracting team to submit SOWs for approval
  • Ensure regular, ongoing communication with all team members and partners
  • Incorporate customer satisfaction as a component of operational support work, with an emphasis on generating innovative ways to continually improve results
  • Ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented and communicates follow-up actions to team as necessary
