Marrero Land & Improvement Association, Limited is Hiring an Assistant Controller for Real Estate Development Company Near Marrero, LA

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and reporting, possess excellent analytical skills, and be proficient in various accounting software.

Responsibilities:

Assist controller with all aspects of her position to train for possible advancement to Controller upon retirement while also performing Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

Controller functions include preparation of financial statements, presentation of financial data for board meetings, quarterly and year end reports, 401K, life and health insurance benefits, various other management reports, assisting with tax return preparation and the yearly audit. Overseeing all accounts payable, payroll and account receivable functions.

Accounts Receivable

  • Receive and record cash, checks and ACH payments to appropriate tenants
  • Post all charges to tenant accounts
  • Process delinquency report and open item statements
  • Set up new properties, units, tenants, and leases as well as keep information accurate and up to date
  • Refund checks to tenants after receiving approved check request
  • End of month rent comparison report in Excel

Payroll

  • Process hourly payroll and coding time worked to properties
  • Process semimonthly salary payroll
  • Preparation and submitting state withholding and L1
  • Process 941, state withholding, Futa and Suta payments
  • End of year W-2’s and 1099s
  • Process new hires and terminations
  • Process shareholder distributions

Accounts Payable:

  • Back up for accounts payable
  • Put stop payments on checks as needed

Skills:

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Proficiency in debits and credits principles
  • Experience with Sage and QuickBooks accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of account analysis techniques
  • Ability to perform financial report writing
  • Familiarity with budgeting processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements
  • Excellent financial acumen for strategic planning

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
