Marketwise Solutions is Hiring an Associate Software Engineer Near Baltimore, MD

Overview

As a Quantitative Data Engineer, you will be working at the intersection of finance and technology. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and enhancement of our quantitative research and capabilities for our subscribers, utilizing your expertise in data engineering.

Location: Baltimore, MD (No Remote)

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Explore new data sources and technologies to enhance our quantitative research capabilities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and infrastructure to support quantitative research and backend systems.
  • Work closely with quantitative engineers and product managers to understand data requirements and enhance data-driven systems.
  • Contribute to the integration of data into quantitative models and backend services.
  • Identify and implement optimizations to improve data processing speed, model execution, and overall system performance.
  • Proactively address data quality issues and implement solutions to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • The ideal candidate will be an analytical and technical problem solver, curious about financial markets and quantitative finance, and show an ability to work autonomously and as part of a distributed team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, Physics, Engineering, Financial Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Proven experience in quantitative data engineering within the financial industry.
  • Strong background in Quantitative Finance (Must Have)
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python (Must Have).
  • Familiarity with quantitative finance concepts and financial instruments (Must Have).
  • Strong understanding of qualitative fundamental financial analysis including familiarity with financial statements.
  • Hands on experience developing with Python and advanced data processing using Python libraries & AWS services.
  • Experience in modeling and tuning relational databases (SQL Server/PostgreSQL) and NOSQL databases (Mongo).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic team
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. (For CS Roles: Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time)
  • Visual acuity for reading and using the computer
  • Ability to perceive
  • Ability to freely move about the office
  • Ability to use the phone/computer/keyboard/mouse/general office equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate with others in order to exchange information
  • Fluency in the English language
