Creative Plastics is seeking an experienced Laser Supervisor to manage and lead the operations of the laser team on B shift. The supervisor will be responsible for training and developing team members and insuring jobs are produced efficiently, meeting customers’ quality and delivery expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the materials required for the work orders are complete and available before starting the laser process; prioritize work orders based on the due dates.
- Review the drawing specification and determine optimum machine settings.
- Convert drawings to programs that effectively utilize materials and process parts in an efficient manner. This includes design troubleshooting, file modification, and tracking of cut parts.
- Operate laser cutters – loading/unloading material, ensuring parts do not move and are processed according to specifications.
- Track which parts have been processed and organize parts for downstream use.
- Maintain lasers in conjunction with maintenance personnel (preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, oiling/greasing of parts, clearing of filters, etc.) as well as keeping the area around the machine clean and organized.
- Identify any errors or discrepancies with the material requirement before starting any work orders.
- Coordinate training for newly hired Laser Operators and provide ongoing training to existing Operators.
- Maintain a fully operational, clean, and organized work environment during the entire process.
- Safeguard company policies, health, and safety regulations to meet safety compliance.
- Work overtime, attend additional duties when needed, and be able to lift to 30 pounds.
- Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to develop strategic plans and procedures to increase the efficiency of the manufacturing practices.
- Resolves routine equipment issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience programming, operating and trouble-shooting lasers to process plastics parts.
- Previous supervisory and leadership experience required.
- Ability to read detailed prints and the ability to use and read precise measuring tools.
- Self-motivated flexible team-player, with the persistence to following through on commitments in a timely manner.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, as well as a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with data entry and software and systems.
- Strong attention to detail as each employee is responsible for the quality of the product they produce.
