Mark Thomas is Hiring a Survey Technician I Near Walnut Creek, CA

Mark Thomas is adding an entry-level Survey Technician to our Survey and Mapping team to begin this summer! Current college students in Geomatics, GIS, or other survey-related areas of study interested in an applied learning experience and future career in this space are encouraged to apply! The Survey Technician I performs assigned project tasks and deliverables, and collaborates with our talented team of seasoned surveying and engineering staff to deliver public works projects to enhance our communities. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Uses survey CADD software to assist in the preparation of mapping plats, maps, descriptions, ALTA surveys and other deliverables, Topographic Mapping, Digital Terrain Models (DTM's), and Point Databases
  • Completes work tasks on time and within budget with quality as determined by supervisor
  • Updates supervisor and project team on status of assigned work on regular basis
  • Provides support as needed related to storage, transportation, assembly, operation, and maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles
  • Completes training and attends meetings as assigned
  • Expresses a can-do attitude and willingness to learn; aims to complete project tasks and deliverables to a quality standard with a goal in proficiency

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Current student with a survey or drafting emphasis; BS or AA preferred in related area of study; equivalent experience considered in lieu of formal education
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications and survey drafting software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D)
  • Basic knowledge of MicroStation, TopoDOT, and Trimble Business Center (TBC) preferred
  • Drafting/CADD certificates a plus
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal skills
  • Ability to multi- task and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities

The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The base compensation range for this position is $19.00 - $31.00 per hour.
