MARION TECHNICAL COLLEGE is Hiring a Medical Science & MLT - Adjunct Faculty Near Marion, OH

POSITIONSUMMARY

To provide instruction, be accessible asassigned for student conferences (i.e. immediately prior to and followingclass sessions or by appointment), and maintain adequate and accurateacademic performance and attendance records of students – all under thedirection of the department dean or representative.

ESSENTIALJOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.Respond to inquiries from students, College employees andcustomers while maintaining standards of confidentiality and privacy, in atimely manner. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the College, FERPA,student records, and any other protected documentation.

2.Teach approved courses using applied learning methods inaccordance with the course objectives, the established syllabus, the scheduleof classes, and other College and program requirements. Instruct in a varietyof learning environments, both on and off campus, which may include web-based,high schools, and other sites.

3.Demonstrate ability and expertise in one's discipline andenthusiasm and creativity in teaching to create an environment that motivatesstudents to learn. Manage the classroom and maintain records includingpreparing and updating course syllabi, course materials, technology, andweb-based courses.

4.Work with other faculty and the administration in carrying out allinstructional procedures and willingness to follow procedures, both at on- andoff-campus locations.

5.Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, etc. and academicperformance of students. Maintain accurate records and possess strongorganizational skills. Flexibility to meet academic classroom schedules andoff-campus sites. Maintain user proficiency for software programs, systems, anddatabases used by the College.

6.Ability to teach lecture and laboratory courses and operatelaboratory equipment. Monitor safety practices within the classroom andlaboratory.

7.Attend organizational, orientation, or training meetings heldpreceding or during each academic term and departmental meetings wheneverfeasible.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in a related Allied Health discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of experience and special certified training in Medical Laboratory Technology required. MT or MLS (ASCP) certification required. Higher education teaching experience preferred. Exhibit excellent English, communication,and writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft® Office programs (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, and Outlook) with strong computer and related technology skillsrequired. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete projectswith minimal direction and oversight. Any combination of work experience,training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted. Willingness to work anirregular schedule as assigned. Candidate must successfully pass a backgroundcheck, prior to and after employment. Valid driver’s license or dependabletransportation required.

ADASPECIFICATIONS

This position is classified as Facultyand will teach in a wide range of educational venues to provide qualityinstruction to a diverse student population for the college, primarily in aclassroom or office setting. Further information may be obtained from theOffice of Human Resources.
