Marion General Hospital is Hiring a Lead RN Case Manager Near Marion, IN

Job Summary

This position coordinates care between the hospital, patients, families, physicians, home health agencies, and other care providers so that our customers will receive high-quality cost-effective health and hospital services. Responsible for abstraction of data from patient medical records for measurement of quality indicators in compliance with state, federal regulations that is required for hospital license, accreditation, and reimbursement. Problem solves departmental issues as needed. Assist the department AD and Manager by providing input for performance improvement evaluations. Acts as a liaison between department staff, nursing, and providers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Nursing from an accredited university
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse License.
  • CPR certification or must obtain at next available class upon hire.
  • Three (3) years of recent healthcare experience in an acute hospital or related setting with experience and/or knowledge of healthcare reimbursement rules and government regulations.

Preferred Job Requirements

  • Certification in Case Management is preferred. Certification can be either Commission for Case Management Certification (CCMC) or American Case Management Association (ACMA)

  • Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with patients and their families and guests effectively and tactfully, co-workers, managers, providers and other hospital personnel on a one-to-one basis using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and word usage.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.
  • Highly developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Analytical and statistical skills to comprehend and analyze healthcare data and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with the ability to effectively prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.

Working Conditions

  • Mostly works in typical office environment.
  • Occasionally visits clinical environment with risk of exposure to blood, body fluid or other potentially infectious materials.
  • May be at risk for electrical hazards or hazardous materials.
  • Works with protected health information.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays or weekends based on the needs of the department.

Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment

  • Use of computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Extreme concentration and attention to detail.
  • Lifts standard office supplies and equipment.
  • Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, walking sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, or stooping to perform duties in a safe manner.
