Anticipated Opening for 2024-25 School Year
Job Title: Elementary Extracurricular Activities Coordinator
Reports to: Extracurricular Activities Director
Location: District-Wide Elementary
Position Type: Full-time Contract, 209 Days
Introduction:

As the Elementary Extracurricular Activities Coordinator you will lead the planning, development, and implementation of a diverse range of extracurricular programs and activities within our school district. You will be responsible for creating a dynamic and enriching environment that fosters student engagement, growth, and development outside of the traditional classroom setting.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Master's degree in education, sports management, counseling, student affairs, or related field (preferred)
  • State of Ohio Administrative License (or ability to procure one)
  • Pupil Activity Permit
  • Proven experience in coaching with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Strong financial management skills and organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff towards shared goals as well as attend to multiple tasks, meeting a variety of deadlines simultaneously
  • Proficiency in event planning, budget management, and project management
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in extracurricular programming
  • This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and as such, performance of duties beyond the normal work day are included in the compensation package. Requires work as necessary to perform the duties of the position

Essential Functions:
  • Organizes and administers the overall program of interscholastic athletics and extracurricular activities for the elementary program.
  • Works with elementary Administrators to create a schedule of after school activities.
  • Works in conjunction with the Athletic/Activities Director in the selection, assignment, professional development and evaluation of elementary athletic coaches and staff members.
  • Assumes responsibility for the organization and scheduling of all interscholastic athletic events, musical, art, and club or extracurricular activities for K-6.
  • Hires officials, policemen and auxiliary help, as required, and assumes general responsibility for the proper supervision of home games, clubs, performances, and activities.
  • Works with the Extracurricular Activities Director and the youth activities Directors or Coordinators to develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic, music, art, and other extracurricular activities.
  • Prepares requisitions, in cooperation with appropriate staff members to obtain uniforms and equipment for the elementary athletic, music, band, fine arts, and other extracurricular programs.
  • Supervises the cleaning, storage and care of all elementary school athletics, music, band, fine arts, and other extracurricular equipment.
  • Supervises all elementary ticket sales, program sales, and fund-raising events connected with the elementary athletic, youth activities, and other extracurricular programs and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.
  • Arranges all details of visiting elementary teams' or clubs' needs as appropriate.
  • Arranges the practice schedules for the K-5 coaches on the fields, pool and gymnasiums, stages, and event arenas.
  • Works with the Director of Operations relative to the maintenance and repair of all athletics , music, band, fine arts, and other extracurricular facilities.
  • Keeps records of the results of all K-5 athletic , youth activities, and other extracurricular contests and maintains a file of all award winners.
  • Prepares and updates appropriate K-5 eligibility lists.
  • Acts as the school representative at all league and Booster Club meetings when appropriate.
  • Promotes the total extracurricular program in a manner that insures the maximum educational benefits to the students.
  • Attends athletics , youth activities, and other extracurricular events.
  • Develops a daily work schedule in conjunction with the HR Director and Extracurricular Activities Director that accommodates the needs of the Athletic, Music, and other extracurricular departments and community.
  • Is responsible for the organization and implementation of good crowd control procedures.
  • Maintains a current file of parental consent forms, student physicals, and other required forms for students participating in K-5 athletic, music, band, fine arts, and other extracurricular programs.
  • Works with the Extracurricular Activities Director when constructing an annual budget for the elementary athletic, youth activities, and other extracurricular departments.
  • Helps students and parents understand their personal responsibility for athletes, musicians, artists, and club members.
  • Works with parents and students regarding the importance of educational support for parents and families in the areas of academic success, positive student behavior, attendance at school, and student growth.
  • Recruits at-risk students for non-traditional learning experiences and manages expectations around that working relationship.
  • Assumes any additional duties and responsibilities as my be assigned by the Extracurricular Activities Director or his/her designee.
Additional Requirements:
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for evening and weekend events.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in student engagement and extracurricular programming.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
  • Ability to become certified to drive the district van and willingness to fulfill that requirement as needed for various events.

  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy.
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation.
