SUPPLEMENTAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Anticipated Opening for 2024-2025 School Year

Assistant Marching Band Director (2) – Range II - Harding

Description:

To lead, promote, and facilitate students to achieve maximum potential in the chosen activity by instilling ethical values, teamwork and a winning attitude. To organize and coordinate practices and meetings by utilizing all available resources to promote and teach the fundamentals of the activity.

Qualifications:

  • PASP – Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit issued by The Ohio Department of Education, which includes:
  • Fundamentals of Coaching
  • Concussion Education
  • Valid CPR Certification
  • First Aide/Health Safety
  • A thorough knowledge of the activity that is being taught
  • Alternative to the above qualifications as superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • An extensive knowledge and background of the activity that he/she is coaching
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Effective, active listening skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Interacts in a positive manner with staff, parents and students
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment
  • Responsible for submission of student roster by April 1 or by the end of the season to the EMIS secretary. Must include local seal requirements by students.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations (i.e. emergencies, employee/parent concerns)
  • Ensure the safety of students
  • Set a good moral and ethical example for students, the student body, and community
  • Work cooperatively with the Boosters to better the music program
  • Follow board policies
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical manner during contests and practices
  • Set up practice schedules
  • Notify parents of students needing medical attention, refer for a physical and keep records of injury
  • Responsible for all equipment and inventory
  • Responsible for handing out, collecting, cleaning and storage of equipment
  • Set up itineraries and bus schedule for contests or performances
  • Be present at all practices and contests or have a designated coach in charge until all students have left the field or building
  • Cooperate with other coaches to develop a total music program
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality
  • Work cooperatively with the teaching staff, administration and parents
  • Attend student Open House

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up scouting and schedules
  • Completely discuss procedures and responsibilities with all assistants
  • Assist in planning special events
  • Make decisions on all music awards and conduct player voting for awards required
  • Inform all students of their rights and procedures if they are denied participation or dismissed from the squad
  • Keep abreast of new techniques and innovations by attending clinics and reading material
  • Be involved and attend Music Boosters meetings
  • Promote the program to the parents, community, and students
  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training of assistants
  • Assist in the collection of required student forms, pay-to-participate fees, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required
  • Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators
  • Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protectiveservices/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal

Additional Working Conditions:

  • After school and possible weekend work
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and materials up to a maximum of 50 pounds
