Position Purpose
Mariner Managed Transportation is looking for an experienced service centric professional with a background in Logistics/Supply Chain/Managed Transportation. This team member will manage transportation procurement functions to ensure execution and on time delivery of products in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. This position requires collaborating with other departments and overall excellent communication skills.
Position Responsibilities
Liaison between the carrier and the client. This includes in-depth discussions with executive level leadership, understanding what the customers’ needs are, and acting on behalf of those needs, while keeping the carrier in mind.
Educating internal and external groups on best-in-class industry practices through onboarding, training, and refresher activities.
Responsible for facilitating pricing exercises for both TL and LTL business, through weekly calls, analysis, and RFPs.
High level of pricing and service negotiations to promote a strategic procurement vision tailored to each client.
Evaluate, vet, and manage all carrier relationships owned by Mariner or customer owned
Maintain and manage all SOP documents
Identify potential issues and utilize critical thinking to determine the best course of action
Maintain a true understanding of the market and effects it may have on the incumbent carriers and customers
Assist in account development and account forecasting
Manage positive day to day relationships with customers, carriers, team, and internal divisions
Share daily reporting and analysis centered around service, on time, carrier selection, operational compliance
Assist in evaluating and improving existing BI processes
Prepare analytics for Quarterly Business Reviews and other Monthly Customer/Carrier Reviews as needed
Support special projects, operational needs, new business opportunities, IT implementations and process improvements
Deliver and present ad hoc customer data requests in a clean/organized structure
Recommend changes to processes and systems to achieve long-term goals
Address system issues, delays, and concerns by working with internal IT group on a resolution
Takes initiative and perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Logistics, or related field.
Proven history of managing people, with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
Minimum of 5 years in a Supply Chain Management Role, 2 years in Transportation Procurement.
Ability to handle and analyze large data files and respond with the customer in mind
Ability to develop procurement strategy to support client savings goals and business requirements
Ability to conduct presentations internally and externally as a subject matter expert
Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to produce, interpret and draw conclusions from data.
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Power Point).
Knowledge and experience with BI technologies (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau).
Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, excellent time management skills, as well as highly organized.
Highly detail oriented, with excellent follow up practices.
