Job Duties

This is a full-time position that will be a member of a team responsible of supporting the agency’s custom web applications. Depending on experience, knowledge and skill set, position could be a Specialist II or a Specialist III. Position requires extensive SQL and relational databases and writing custom queries skillsets. Responsibilities will include but not limited to writing, editing PHP scripts as well as SQL queries with an emphasis on maintaining and strengthening application and data security. Position will also be responsible for maintaining and supporting multiple application databases. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer, and works with agency program managers, operating personnel, and VITA (coordinating service activities) and its contractors to support agency personnel. Prepares general and detailed documents outlining procedures related to agency applications, the security program and other IT functions. This position is located at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA and is ineligible for teleworking for at least three months due to training requirements, with an evaluation and approval system to align with business needs and policy thereafter, for no more than one day per week.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have experience with SQL and relational databases and writing custom queries. Must have a strong work ethic. Must be willing and able to learn new technical skills and flexible to change. Must have some IT related education – technical certifications, college degree or work experience. Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the standard 12-month probationary period.
