Job Description: As a CNC Machine Operator with welding experience at MLDS, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing process, ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality in the production of boat lifts. You will operate a CNC machine to fabricate components according to specifications, as well as utilize your welding expertise to assemble and reinforce structural elements.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. CNC Machine Operation:
    • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as cutting, drilling, milling, and shaping aluminum and steel components.
    • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
    • Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and identify any deviations from specifications.
    • Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to optimize performance and prevent downtime.
  2. Welding and Fabrication:
    • Utilize various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.) to join metal components, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to quality standards.
    • Read and interpret welding symbols and specifications to accurately execute welding tasks.
    • Inspect welded joints for defects, such as cracks or insufficient fusion, and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
    • Assist in the fabrication and assembly of boat lift components, including frames, supports, and mechanisms.
  3. Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct thorough inspections of machined and welded parts to verify dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall quality.
    • Identify and report any non-conforming products or processes and collaborate with the quality control team to implement corrective actions.
    • Follow established procedures for documenting production activities, including material usage, machine settings, and inspection results.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
    • Operate machinery in accordance with OSHA and company regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
    • Participate in safety training programs and contribute to ongoing efforts to improve workplace safety practices.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a CNC machine operator in a manufacturing environment, preferably with knowledge of machining aluminum and steel.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong welding skills, with experience in MIG and TIG welding techniques and the ability to pass welding certification tests.
  • Familiarity with welding equipment and tools, including welding machines, torches, grinders, and measuring instruments.
  • Attention to detail and precision in executing machining and welding tasks to meet quality standards and tolerances.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing production priorities and willingness to cross-train in various manufacturing processes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in CNC machining and welding is a plus.
