Marin Academy is Hiring a Spanish Teacher Near San Rafael, CA

JOB TITLE: Spanish Teacher (75%)
REPORTS TO:World Language Department Chair
START DATE: August 2023

Marin Academy seeks a .75 FTE Spanish teacher to begin in August, 2023. Candidates should have at least five
years of Spanish teaching experience at the high school level and a desire to teach introductory, intermediate,
and advanced levels. In addition to possessing native or near-native fluency in Spanish, a bachelor’s degree in
Spanish or a language-related field is required. A master’s or higher-level degree in Spanish or a
language-related field is preferred.

This position will involve the teaching of three Spanish classes (full time instructors teach four), advising, and one
additional duty. 75% employees are eligible for full benefits at Marin Academy. Teachers at Marin Academy are
paid according to a published salary scale, with steps for years of experience and degrees earned. A 75%
teacher with 5-10 years of experience and a Master’s degree can expect to earn between $65,250-$77,250 per

The World Language Department at Marin Academy requires that students take three years of one language no
matter their level of entry. Our Spanish program includes levels 1, 2, 3, 3-honors, 4, 4-honors, 5, and 5/6-honors.
MA’s world language program is a total immersion program beginning at level one. Level two Spanish is a
rigorous study of vocabulary and grammar. Levels three through four focus on the development of fluency, and
levels five and six focus exclusively on literature, history, and current events.

Candidates should have the inclination and experience to work in a diverse community focused on issues of
equity and social justice. Candidates should be ready and excited to work and lead collaboratively in teams
inside the World Language Department and across MA’s academic departments. Ideal candidates will have
experience with and interest in curriculum development and competency-based learning/assessment.
