ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The SoR Facilitator is responsible for leading the transformation of literacy practices with school coaches and administrators to build literacy infrastructure at the classroom, school, and district level. Specifically, the SoR Facilitator will work closely with systems and school-level leaders, literacy coaches, teachers, and other instructional staff to design and execute a plan to realize the Science of Teaching Reading is realized across the system including assessment, tiered instruction, intervention, professional development, and data. As a continuation of the district partnership with the Rolling Center, the SoR Facilitator will lead the implementation of evidence-based practices into classroom instruction and assessment through teacher training, modeling, and consultation. The SoR Facilitator in partnership with school staff, will create opportunities that will significantly enhance teachers’ knowledge and capacity and positively impact children’s literacy outcomes. The SoR Facilitator will actively interact with principals, program developers, literacy coaches, teachers, and paraprofessionals to accomplish this goal. This is a one year grant-funded position. If selected for the role, current MCS instructional staff with a satisfactory evaluation, would be offered a 2025-2026 contract equivalent to their current position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost continuously required to sit, and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in typing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment. However, the noise level can vary depending upon daily activity but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range. The employee continuously is interacting with the public, staff and students. The employee frequently will be required to meet multiple demands from several people.
