This transformative two-year experience is tailored to recent graduates holding advanced degrees who are interested in exploring a career in public health. They are dedicated to making a positive impact on communities and promoting equity within healthcare The capacity to work collaboratively with professionals from diverse backgrounds and have an understanding of the interconnectedness of public health with other fields Strong written and verbal skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to develop innovative strategies for improving public health outcomes Experience with collaborating in multidisciplinary team(s) Experience in leadership positions in organizations, volunteer groups, or community initiatives Participation in fieldwork or internships in a public health environment Ready to begin in September 2024 and is willing and able to commit to this 2-year program Job Contributions Work with Project Point of Contact and project team to carry out project-specific tasks Will serve as Senior Fellow in year 2 and support the next cohort of Fellows beginning in 2025 Participate in leadership and training opportunities offered by the MCDPH Fellowship program Collaborate with MCDPH internal teams to move projects forward efficiently and effectively Attend regular department, division, office, and cohort meetings Fellowship Projects Fellows will engage with one primary project below and also have the opportunity to work on additional projects focused on emerging public health needs. The 3 Fellowship projects for the 2024 – 2026 cohort are: Heat Relief Fellow: focused on climate & public health, public health interventions, and health disparities Academic Health Department Fellow: focused on learning & development, health policy & management, and public health research & practice Occupational Mental Health Fellow: focused on incident command structure and public health emergency response Working Conditions This person will primarily work in an office setting with a potential hybrid option Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza.
