Maricopa County is Hiring a Remote Initial Appearance Attorney-Nighttime

Posting Date 04/05/24 Application Deadline 05/05/24 Pay Range $77,500 - $130,500 annually Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. Job Type Classified Department County Attorney About the Position The Initial Appearance Attorney is responsible for handling cases for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in the Initial Appearance Court. Duties include reviewing felony matters to ensure that booking paperwork establishes probable cause, working with law enforcement agencies to correct booking problems, arguing for appropriate release conditions, and helping victims assert their rights. In addition, attorneys assist police officers as requested. Attorneys will also review cases for charging decisions and respond to motions as directed. Initial Appearance Attorneys work 12-hour shifts working one full week (Monday to Sunday) and having the next full week off. Shifts begin at 6 PM and 6 AM. This recruitment seeks to fill a nighttime position, 6 PM to 6 AM. This recruitment is used to fill Prosecutor levels I – II positions. The level and compensation offered will be based on the education and experience provided on the application. Prosecutors hired at a level I will be compensated at a range of $77,500.00 - $95,742.40 Prosecutors hired at a level II will be compensated at a range of $90,500.00 - $130,500.00 and must have a minimum of three years of directly applicable experience or six years minimum experience as an attorney in an unrelated field.
