Job Summary

This position will assist students with the completion of financial aid and scholarship applications, as well as have high volume contact with students, families, college personnel, and the general public in the form of large and small presentations, in person meetings, phone contact and email communications. As a liaison between campus departments and external agencies, this person will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with public high schools for the purpose of conducting financial aid/scholarship application completion presentations. Performing technical and demanding financial aid duties, this position will analyze and process data to determine financial aid eligibility.
Essential Functions

40% Ensure compliance with all financial aid policies, and provide accurate and consistent customer service to students and parents regarding financial aid programs and related services. Assists students and parents with the financial aid process from initial application to award. Perform regular follow-up, via in person, email, online and phone calls to ensure students understand the financial aid process and assist with verifying applications for accuracy and completeness. Provides training and orientation to new and current staff members, as assigned, and performs additional duties commensurate with the level of the position.
25% Represent the college at events, such as financial aid workshops, orientations, and other on campus initiatives. Responsible for creating and conducting interactive presentations and workshops on and off campus, as well as managing the Academic Works database and scholarship email account. Responsible for assisting with scholarship program management including posting of awards, notifying students, and working with business services to facilitate the scholarship process. Responsible for ensuring student financial aid packaging with outreach contact efforts.
15% Serve as a subject matter expert responsible for exercising professional judgment on student applications, determining eligibility, and ensuring program compliance. Analyze/interpret regulations and respond to inquiries requiring detailed knowledge of regulations and policies.
10% Reviews and performs technically complex Title IV processes including review of financial aid applications, packaging student financial aid inclusive of; verification, budget proration, awarding, authorization of funds, corrections to ISIRs, post award adjustments, etc. Responsible for assisting with scholarship awards and processing numerous reports.
10% Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. Must be able to access federal financial aid databases.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Must be able to access federal financial aid databases.
Desired Qualifications

A. Two or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) working with student services.
B. Two or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) providing front line customer service to students and parents regarding financial aid programs and related services.
C. Two or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) in the use of packaging, awarding, and disbursing student financial aid in compliance with federal laws.
D. Two or more years' recent experience (within the last 36 months) planning, developing, facilitating, and evaluating presentations and/or outreach events (workshops, presentation, etc.)
Special Working Conditions

  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
