Job Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) at the MCCCD is looking for a Library Specialist Supervisor. This role collaborates with a team of library professionals who provide technical services to the ten college libraries throughout the District. This role ensures quality technical services, customer service, and staff management for centralized library services such as materials ordering and processing, library services platform management, and library services customer support. 25% - Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff; recommends staff selection, directs training and the disciplinary process; identifies training needs and presents professional growth opportunities; oversees and/or participates in the delivery of staff training and mentoring 25% - Oversees daily operational activities in the provisioning of library integrated services including circulation, course reserves, acquisitions, periodicals, and interlibrary loan processes; develops, assigns and updates service schedules and ensures resource coverage 25% - Provides input and assists in developing, recommending and implementing operating policies, practices and work standards; oversees and monitors quality control and assurance activities; compiles/reviews data and prepares routine and ad hoc reports 15% - Responds to requests and concerns including more complex issues that have been escalated; provides customer assistance and instruction related to library technology 10% - Performs related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in library science or related field and two (2) years of related library support experience and two years of lead work or senior level work experience. OR High School Diploma/GED and four (4) years of related library support experience and two years of lead work or senior level work experience. Desired Qualifications
Experience supervising a library technical services team, preferably in higher education
Experience supporting and training on library systems such as ILLiad and Alma
Experience with original and copy cataloging, preferably in Ex Libris Alma and WorldCat
Experience with digital and physical materials ordering and processing
Experience providing customer support and service via a help desk ticketing system
