Mare Rooftop, Providence’s premier upscale rooftop restaurant and bar, is looking for an Assistant General Manager to help us in “elevating” our outstanding guest experience and join our dynamic staff.

The Assistant General Manager will train directly with our General Manager and learn to be proficient in overseeing daily operations. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, team player who is capable of working independently in a non-corporate environment. The Assistant General Manager will report directly to the GM and will meet periodically with the ownership team. Mare Rooftop will provide the tools and knowledge for the right candidate to succeed!

This is a leadership role that requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively communicate with staff and customers.

Duties:
- Assist the General Manager in managing all aspects of the restaurant operations
- Supervise and train staff members, ensuring they adhere to company policies and procedures
- Oversee inventory management, including ordering and receiving all beverage and bar supplies
- Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure consistency
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and specials
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner
- Assist in scheduling staff members to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to provide feedback, address issues, and promote teamwork
- Assist in conducting interviews and hiring new employees
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Background and Qualifications:

• Ability to manage a staff effectively and fairly through steps of service, training and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Independent managing and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of POS systems, as well as proficient computer skills.
• A minimum of 2 years of previous experience as a Manager in a full-service, upscale restaurant or 5 years of upscale or fine dining experience as either a bartender or server.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
- Strong knowledge of POS systems and other restaurant management software
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure
