We are currently seeking a Counter Sales associate to support our St. Charles, IL location. This role is conveniently located at 13891 W 101st St, Lenexa, KS 66215.

The Counter Sales position provides excellent service to customers primarily via counter sales, and phone, email / online, scanner, and fax communication. The Counter Sales position provides branch operations assistance through merchandising by stocking, picking, pulling, and on time will call assistance. Additionally, the position provides support and information on product inquiry as well as damaged goods, product sold, or product returned. The position effectively utilizes its resources as it relates to company computer systems, online tools, and facility inventory.

Great Plains Supply / Pool & Spa Products is a wholesale distributor of swimming pool and spa equipment, parts and chemicals and is located in Kansas City (Great Plains Supply) and Houston (Pool & Spa Products). Their customer base is in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Northeast Oklahoma (Tulsa), the Gulf Region of Texas and Houston. A family business for nearly 40 years, Steve Reiff founded GPS in 1984, and in 1992 began a partnership with Jay Patterson and Pool & Spa Products (which Jay founded in 1987). To this day, Steve’s daughter, Susan Reiff Ahn, and Jay’s son, Blake Patterson, continue to offer quality wholesale distribution services to the 21st-century swimming pool industry professionals. What you'll be doing:

  • Provides excellent customer service through timely customer interaction, problem resolution or escalation with effective and efficient follow-up
  • Promptly responds to customer inquiries via phone, email, or fax with courtesy in a professional demeanor
  • Completes assigned training successfully and applies learnings as needed and directed
  • Performs general warehouse work as directed, including working in any and all departments within the branch
  • Promotes a safe work environment by quickly addressing unsafe conditions such as damaged product, clutter, cleanliness of work area, and clears customer passage
  • Effectively communicates with management upon arrival and departure for the day, at breaks, and at meal periods including any periods at which they will not be at their work station
  • Wears proper safety equipment and gear performing proper safety inspections on material handling equipment
  • Conducts aisle responsibilities as assigned
  • Conducts timely and frequent queue checks throughout the day, responding in a timely and effective manner

Preferred Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or its GED equivalent and some college in business, sales, or related field
  • 3 or more years’ experience with customer service and related functions.
  • Field experience in the Pool Building and/or Service sector, and/or Pool Retail or Distribution sales
  • Forklift experience (stand up and/or sit down)

Minimum Job Requirements

  • High School or its GED equivalent
  • 2 or more years’ experience with customer service and related functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis.
  • Use computers, photocopiers, scanners, phone systems and meeting and virtual platform sharing relative to the needs of the job.
  • Minimum keyboarding skills of 40 words per minute
