About the Job

Our team is growing, and Marcon Metal USA (www.marconmetal.com) is hiring a steel-experienced Senior Project Manager/Estimator to join our dynamic team based out of Ferndale, WA.

About the Position:

Responsibilities:

  • Develop clear and detailed project scope for the customer.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings if required, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Preparation of detailed estimates and backup documentation for review.
  • Solicit project specific proposals from material suppliers and evaluate for completeness and competitiveness.
  • Develop options and recommend best value solutions based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials.
  • Establish and maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Communicate with customers to set realistic deadlines for completion of work.
  • Understand plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of material and processes required to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain a daily critical jobs schedule and keep shop management informed.
  • Assist Senior PM’s with awarded contracts and projects as required – may include estimating/pricing change orders and facilitating resolution of any contractual issues.
  • Verify job costing as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient at performing math and weight calculations.
  • Proficient at reading engineering, architectural and other construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understanding of steel fabrication process, steel grades, fastener grades, connection requirements, coating types, fabrication procedures and installation requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy and use of MS Office programs.
  • Some experience with best practices used in estimating costs, preparing schedules and preparing competitive tenders.
  • Some experience managing projects from award to completion.
  • Self-motivated, positive and adaptable to a fast-paced and changing business environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Construction Management or commensurate experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
