POSITION Summary :
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible of operating a variety of heavy equipment that perform the loading, unloading, spreading and pushing of general debris in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
Heavy equipment may include front-end loaders, excavators with attachments, forklift, grinder and other pieces of equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE :
CORE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES :
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES : Dependability, Decision making, Operation & Control, Operation & Monitoring.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Less than high school education; and minimum three (3) years of equipment operator experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Class C drivers license preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and write English, interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. They should also be able to speak English effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job t he employee is required to sit for long periods of time and constantly bend at the neck and waist, twist at the neck and waste, grasp (simple and power) and push and pull.
The employee is required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as machine operation) most of the workday;
use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently must climb and use fine manipulation of hands.
The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision
