Marathon Nursing is Hiring a Nurse Preceptor (Pediatrics/Home Health) Near Braintree, MA

Overview:

Marathon Nursing has partnered with local schools of nursing and leading medical centers for children with medical complexity, to create a program designed to address the current shortage in pediatric home healthcare.

The Nurse Preceptor will lead this program for Marathon Nursing.

In this role, you will oversee the successful placement and training of precepting senior nursing students from participating schools of nursing in the homes of children with medical complexity (CMC) at Marathon Nursing. Throughout the program, you will support the students and track their progress until successful completion has been achieved. You will be responsible for the coordination between all partners and program leadership.

This is a hybrid position offering frequent remote work, as well as work within the homes of patients, the classroom, and the skills lab.

Job Functions:

  • Establish and maintain relationships as a liaison, providing ongoing communication and coordination with leadership from Marathon Nursing and its partners, to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Attend and participate in all program committee meetings.
  • Meet with Clinical Leadership as needed for program development and training. Participate in and/or lead these trainings as needed.
  • Participate in the development of curriculum, creating educational/support materials designed to help students succeed in providing skilled nursing care to CMC in the home and community-based settings.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Schools to identify candidates and conduct student interviews for program placement.
  • Ensure Marathon Nursing receives all mandated personnel requirements for students to create and maintain individual student files.
  • Meet with Nursing Schools’ clinical faculty to provide program updates on an ongoing basis.
  • Collaborate with Marathon Nursing leadership to identify appropriate CMC host-families/patients for participation in the home.
  • Collaborate with Marathon Nursing to create rotating schedules for each student throughout the semester, exposing them to a diverse group of patients and affording them the ability to develop new clinical skills.
  • Directly communicate each week with students and create plans to help them achieve success.
  • Meet with college clinical faculty to provide student evaluations (midterm and final)
  • Collaborate with Marathon Nursing leadership to identify potential Nurse Preceptors working in the homes with individual patients and host families.
  • Lead weekly meetings with Marathon Nursing preceptors to assess student progress.
  • Regularly communicate with host families for feedback and assess satisfaction with program.
  • Work with Marathon Nursing leadership to transition program graduates into respite/nursing roles with families
  • Communicate with Program Leadership to provide any/all requested data and participate in quality improvement meetings as requested.

Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted, and unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Massachusetts
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse, one of which is supervisory, preferably in community healthcare.
  • Proof of valid and current CPR/BLS certification
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable transportation

Preferences:

  • Home and Community-Based nursing experience
  • Management or teaching experience
  • Bilingual a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting, caring, pushing and pulling of up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting.
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs.
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity.

  • Meetings may be completed virtually or in-person as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
