LOCATION: Clayton Partnership
PAY RANGE: $54,000 - $112,164 Annual Salary
CALENDAR: 190 Days

SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW:
Clayton Partnership School is a K-8 University Partnership School where student learning is supported by best instruction, state-of-the-art teaching practices, and one-on-one attention. In this program mentor teachers provide teacher interns with enriching clinical experiences in a supportive school environment, and teacher interns thrive in a mutually beneficial and cooperative relationship with university partners and the district
A successful mentor teacher has a minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience with summative evaluations in the high proficient range for all three years. Mentor/cooperating teachers will actively plan, observe, and provide feedback to interns, model effective teaching practices and strategies, and provide interns with the ability to test and practice theory in a variety of settings. To be a mentor teacher you will be required to complete professional development provided by Mapleton Public Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Physical Education (K-12) endorsement required.
  • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, *or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework. *
  • K-3 teachers must provide documentation of evidence-based literacy training per CDE requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:
The mentor/cooperating teacher serves a dual function: teaching the students in their class and supervising the work of a teacher intern.
Standard One: Learning Community
  • Coordinating multiple adult interactions to support the instructional focus for students.
  • Serving as mentor, co-teacher, and colleague in study groups, seminars, committees, and other professional collegial activities.
  • Developing a common shared professional vision of teaching and learning grounded in research and practitioner knowledge.
  • Developing and implementing learning experiences and assessment processes that allow students and pre-service teachers to demonstrate what they know and are able to do.
  • Developing and implementing new approaches for examining and improving instructional practices through ongoing inquiry-based reflection.
  • Modeling effective strategies for supporting positive student behavior.
  • Willingness to loop with students.
  • Supporting field experiences and clinical practice of pre-service teachers both during and outside of the contract day.
  • Supporting the learning of students, pre-service teachers, and colleagues.
  • Co-plan, co teach, model, coach and provide feedback to teacher intern.
Standard Two: Accountability
  • Using ongoing inquiry-based reflection to analyze instructional practices and making constructive changes.
  • Participating in professional development during and outside of the contract day and for two weeks during the summer.
  • Developing assessments, collecting information, and using results to inform instruction and improve practice.
  • Participating in a process of ongoing assessment, reflection, and action that results in continuous improvement of learning for all learners.
  • Participating in the development of appropriate and consistent ways to provide the public with evidence regarding the achievement of goals.
  • Show evidence of consistently high growth/student achievement.
  • Model excellent instructional practices, and leadership competencies in and out of the classroom setting.
  • Provide for continuous evaluation of the intern through planned conferences with weekly evaluation and feedback.
  • Complete required evaluations of the intern.
Standard Three: Collaboration
  • Engaging in collaboration with all stakeholders to carry out the mission of the school.
  • Collaborating with university partners to improve learning outcomes for both students and pre-service teachers.
  • Collaborating with university partners to plan and implement the curriculum and instruction for pre-service teachers.
  • Collaborating with administrators, instructional coach, university partners, teachers, and pre-service teachers to provide a responsive and supportive environment for all learners.
  • Lead/manage a team of adults to successfully accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness working with adults who have differing backgrounds and personal characteristics
Standard Four: Equity and Diversity
  • Ensuring equitable learning opportunities and outcomes for students and pre-service teachers.
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Engaging in systematic examination of how the alignment of curriculum, instructional approaches and assessment strategies affect outcomes for all learners.
