To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications, demands and environments described below are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the functions of the job. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Capability to write route reports in addition to speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area and volume. Must be able to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

  • Apply agronomy products to customer's fields including dry and liquid fertilizer, chemicals and lime.
  • Operate post spraying equipment, tender trucks, other application equipment.
  • Read and understand label information from manufacturers/distributors of pesticides, fertilizers, and other products containing dangerous chemicals.
  • Evaluate label information to determine that directions for use are followed during application.
  • Apply products in a time effective and accurate manner.
  • Follow guidelines for recording information on weather conditions and product.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain records to document activities in a timely manner.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and heat, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and or humid conditions, high and precarious places. The noise level in this work environment is usually loud {although, not believed to exceed the eight-hour threshold for working in or around loud equipment}. Employee must understand and implement all related safety policies, procedures, and programs for prevention and protection while performing the job duties in all environments.

  • Assist in housekeeping and maintenance of facility grounds including mowing, spraying weeds, and removing snow.
  • Maintain and record maintenance of application equipment, tending equipment, pickups, and warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure safe and accurate application. Perform routine maintenance of Agronomy equipment.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment when required.
  • Operate all equipment and vehicles according to company policy and procedure along with all local, state, and federal laws including DOT laws.
  • Maintain and promote safety awareness, follow safety policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Comply with all state and federal laws, codes and regulations.
  • Communicate daily activities, needs, and accomplishments with Agronomy Team Lead and/or Agronomy Operations Manager.
  • Inform Agronomy Team Lead or Department Manager of all departmental issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service, respond promptly to customer needs, address complaints and concerns immediately.
  • Effectively communicate by verbal and written means with customers, employees, and management.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork.
  • Complete assigned training, meetings, workshops, seminars and continuing education appropriate to the position.

High school diploma or GED and related experience and/or training.

Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. The employee may frequently need to climb ladders {from 4' step ladder to 180' stick boom} and stairs. This may include structural ladders as well as climbing into large vehicles. The employees must frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Daily work schedule is 6am-3pm Monday through Friday, however in-season, and pre/post-harvest schedules are subject to extended hours, weekend and holidays included, based on customer and management needs. The demands will be communicated with as much notices as possible, but not required. Overtime may be mandatory at times. Weekends during the Harvest season is mandatory.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Valid driver's license, with a safe driving record. Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Commerical Applicators License preferred or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
