Northwest Career & Technical Center (NCTC) has a full-time vacancy for an Automotive Technology Instructor for the remainder of the 22/23 school year and with opportunity to continue beyond.The Automotive Technology program at NCTC is a series of prescribed courses for grades 10-12 that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the automotive industry. Automotive Technology delivers industry-based instruction that develops student competencies leading to postsecondary education and employment related to the automotive service industry. Students learn skills based on the nationally recognized Automotive Service Education (ASE) program certification standards. Coursework focuses on the following four National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) areas: Steering & Suspension; Brakes; Electrical/Electronic Systems; and Engine Performance This position is full time, split between two half day programs.
The position also provides instruction of a pre tech foundations program primarily for 9th and 10th grade students. This instructor prepares students for college level studies and entry level positions. Students may earn college credit through dual enrollment and articulation agreements with post-secondary partners as well as Industry Recognized Credentials. Our primary function is to serve 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students in Franklin County from Bellows Free Academy Saint Albans, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, and other interested students from the surrounding areas.
We also offer courses and programs to adult students--high school student graduates, as well as non graduates who are interested in continuing their technical education. Northwest Career & Technical Center has strong relationships with area businesses and area high schools. Our students come from a diversity of backgrounds and pursue post secondary college and workforce opportunities.The Northwest Career & Technical Center is a regional technical center located in St. Albans, Vermont.
The region has a diverse economy with companies that range from a growing hospital facility, cheese producers, maple syrup producers, Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services/Border Patrol, ice cream to pharmaceutical and nutritional products.
