Many Hands is Hiring a Store Manager Near Spencer, IA

Description

As a Store Manager, you will be responsible for the first of our award winning thrift stores. Our Spencer store is tied to the heart of the Spencer community. You will oversee the store's staff and activities to maintain a profitable store location. Thanks to our donors, volunteers, and employees, our stores are critical "Generosity Engines" that help to improve lives locally and internationally. Consider joining us to make a difference!

How you'll get work done through others

  • Interview, hire and train staff for the location
  • Organize and oversee the schedules and work of staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • When necessary, handle discipline and termination of employees

What you'll do

  • Plan, prioritize, assign, monitor and supervise employee's, client's and/or volunteer's daily job duties
  • Responsible for store culture and it's alignment with the Many Hands mission
  • Ensure that a collaborative environment is maintained between employees and volunteers
  • Oversees scheduling and coordinating employee days and hours of work weekly
  • Answer questions, advise, demonstrate and train employees and/or clients on customer service, cash register operation, stocking methods, cleaning, and safety procedures
  • Oversee store layout and suggest changes based on dollar per square foot and consumer trends
  • Monitor overall store sales taking proactive action in alignment with company policy/philosophy
  • Report on store performance to District Manager and Executive Leadership
  • Ensure that donated goods are received, sorted and processed
  • Ensure bank deposits are dropped twice a week
  • Ensure good customer service is provided and reply to any escalated issues
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you bring

  • Strong leadership and management skills with ability to motivate staff
  • Thorough understanding of company policies and practices
  • Possess a highly developed sense of customer service and interpersonal skills including high integrity, respect for all individuals (customers, vendors, and employees), strong critical and analytical thinking skills, and appreciation of diversity 
  • Knowledge of retail management best practices
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read and comprehend internal documents related to store operations
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be insurable
  • Ability to treat others with respect regardless of age, sex, race, or status
  • Ability to positively represent the ministry of Many Hands, including its mission, vision, and core values to all constituencies
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of four (4) years of fast-paced, retail management or other relevant work experience
  • A minimum of eighteen (18) months of related full-time paid employment, including at least twelve (12) months of supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, kneeling and climbing for prolong period of time (up to 7 hours per 8-hour shift), as well as lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • Work a flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attend offsite meetings
