Role Summary

Cogent's Service Center located in Golden, CO is currently seeking an experienced Manual Machinist / Service Technician.

Under minimal supervision, you will set up and operate manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, however, other duties may apply.)

• Reads and interprets CAD drawings, blueprints and instruction manuals.
• Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
• Uses precision tools, machinery and equipment such as lathe, vertical lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, horizontal mill, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
• Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites
• Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
• Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling
• Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
• Service and repair various types of rotating equipment typically found in the water and wastewater industry. Frequently working under tight deadlines
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production
• Ability to document precision quality repairs in our current reporting software
• Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions

Position Manual Machinist / Service Technician Position Requirements

Preferred Experience and Certifications

• High level of mechanical aptitude.
• Experience as a Manual Machinist or Trade School Certification
• Ability to use precision measuring tools
• Past experience working on pumps a plus
• Physically fit, able to lift heavy items up to 50lbs. Must pass pre-employment physical
