Manthei Wood Products, part of the Manthei group of businesses, is a family-owned industry leader in the hardwood veneer industry. We’re a mid-sized manufacturer located in northern Michigan with both hardwood veneer and hardwood plywood divisions and a hardwood specialty plywood facility in Wisconsin.
Growth is upon us and we are seeking a Purchasing Agent to assist in the procurement of goods and services for our organization. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing vendors, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring that purchases are made in a cost-effective and timely manner.

- Identify potential suppliers and vendors for products and services needed by the organization
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible deals
- Review and approve purchase orders and contracts
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and delivery times
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure that stock is replenished as needed
- Collaborate with internal departments to assess needs and plan purchasing strategies
- Stay current on market trends and pricing to inform purchasing decisions
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise with suppliers
- Evaluate and assess the performance of suppliers to ensure quality and reliability
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field
- Proven experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar role
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
