Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society is Hiring a Front Desk Associate Near Mansfield, OH

Front Desk Associate

This position supports the work of the historic Ohio State Reformatory (Reformatory), a nonprofit committed to preserving and restoring one of Ohio’s most treasured historic sites while educating the public about the history of the former institution. The front desk associate is responsible for greeting our guests in a personable and professional manner, cash handling, answering phones, giving direction, and providing general assistance to the public.

Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. At the Reformatory, we strive to strengthen historical education and restoration of the historical site every day while providing a fundamentally safe and fun working environment for all staff as well as our guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsible for greeting our guests as the first face they see when entering the Reformatory.

2. Ticket sales, cash handling, booking reservations either on the phone or in person.

3. Learning the general history of the Reformatory so that they can effectively answer questions about our product offerings and the Reformatory as a whole.

4. Be willing to work consistently on weekends and occasional evening hours.

5. Complete tasks outside of the ticket desk that assist in the general operation of the building which may include, but are not limited to: light cleaning duties, table and chair set-up for events, and seasonal decorating.

6. Answering the phone in a polite and professional manner, while assisting with customer service.

7. Related duties as assigned.

REFORMATORY COMPETENCIES:

Mission Advancement: Models and teaches Reformatory values. Ensures a high level of service with a commitment to promoting the Reformatory’s history and restoration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Solid organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

2. Cash handling experience is a must.

3. Previous customer service or related experience.

4. Familiarity with using team chat, scheduling apps, and timeclock systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk distances, climb multiple sets of stairs, and navigate heights and narrow spaces.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $15 per hour

Fringe Benefits: Paid time-off to include: Vacation (after 1 year), Sick Time, Holidays (as defined in the Employee Manual), Personal Time Off (PTO) and Bereavement Leave for Full-time employees.

Salary: $15/hour

Expected hours: Full-time (32-40 hours per week) preferred. We are open to part-time (minimum of 3 days per week) for the right candidates.
