Job Summary:

This position supports the Lincoln High School School-to-Work programs, including Youth Apprenticeship (YA) and Work Experience (WE). This position also supports college and career exploration activities such as mock interviews, Lincoln’s Job Board, and field trips. This position serves as a representative of the school in communicating information, working with high school students, communicating with the local business community, and program data collection and management.

Terms of Employment

This position works eight hours per day, 185.5 days identical to the school calendar during the school year, with an additional 10 days prior to the start of the school year and 10 days after the school year has ended.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greet students, staff, and visitors to the School-to-Work Office
  • Effectively communicates with students, parents, staff, and local businesses
  • Prepare and assemble student materials
  • Track and record weekly timesheets for YA students
  • Communicate with students regarding timesheets and grades
  • Assist students through the application process of the YA program
  • Update the student jobs boards
  • Coordinate Mock Interview events and Student Job Fair
  • Plan and promote college visits, including serving as a chaperone when needed
  • Promote opportunities offered by local colleges, organizations, and businesses
  • Serve as contact point for college and military representatives to schedule school visits
  • Assist with the coordination of career exploration events and activities including Wisconsin Education Fair, Career Expo, Reality Store, YA Awards Night
  • Assist students and staff with Xello, a college and career readiness software
  • Data management in Xello and Flexisched
  • Prepare and mail letters and postcards to families and local businesses
  • Design and distribute event fliers, facebook posts, and school newsletters
  • Student data collection and entry for state reporting in Infinite Campus
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students and school related concerns
  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned

Functional Job Analysis and Descriptions:

Language Skills - The ability to read and interpret documents such as computer operating manuals, technical assessment reports, and policy and procedure manuals. The ability to speak effectively before public groups and employee groups.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions as well as instructions in diagram or schedule form. Ability to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Other Skills and Abilities - Must have excellent communication, computer and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to learn and utilize new software programs as systems are upgraded. Typing is required with good grammatical spelling and punctuation. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the business community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively attend to multiple tasks at one time while maintaining a calm disposition. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers, office tools, and controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate with some exposure to loud noise.
