POSITION SUMMARY
This position oversees the training, certification, credentialing, and skill development of the Community Health Aide Program workforce. They plan, organize and coordinate training to ensure timely certification, licensure and credentialing of health aides and medication technicians. Has primary responsibility to ensure Medicaid enrollment and billability of CHA/Ps. This position works closely with Medical Staff and other departments to coordinate health aide training and function as an adjunct field instructor in collaboration with the Community Health Aide Training Centers. This position is based in Kotzebue but may require travel and allow for periods of remote work. This position reports directly to CHAP Program Manager.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serves as Maniilaq’s primary point of contact with the Health Aide Training Centers, communicating with them regularly and securing health aide training opportunities for Maniilaq CHA/Ps.
2. Monitors and tracks health aide training eligibility requirements; submitting training applications to Health Aide Training Centers and preparing students for training.
3. Organizes and hosts Pre-Session training and other appropriate CHA/P Session training opportunities in Kotzebue.
4. When necessary, coordinates appropriate CME and/or skill development courses for health aides and medication technicians.
5. Works with CHAP Administration to plan and arrange the completion of Post Session Learning Needs, Field Training Requirements, incomplete training assignments, biennial skills evaluations, and preceptorships.
6. Maintains appropriate databases and files with training/certification records for all CHA/Ps and Medication Technicians.
7. Prepares routine reports to the Program Manager and Health Aide Training Centers identifying current and future training needs for CHA/Ps.
8. Monitors current and ongoing needs for re-entries and prepares CHA/Ps for re-entry evaluations.
9. Assist with the completion of annual competencies and recordkeeping for the CHA trainees and Medication Technicians.
10. Coordinates applications with Alaska Pacific University to graduate CHPs and achieve college credits. Also assists Medication Technicians with available academic training opportunities.
11. Oversees Medicaid enrollment, National Provider Identifier registry, and effective billability of CHAP workforce.
12. May participate in the AKCHAP Review & Approval Committee to ensure the educational quality of certified training centers.
13. Participates in CHAP service team plan including planning, monitoring and data collection.
14. Will travel and function as a CHP to meet the minimum requirements for board certification.
15. Performs other duties as assigned by the CHAP Program Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be a Board Certified Community Health Practitioner (CHP) in good standing. Must possess strong organizational skills and ability to communicate professionally. Must know and follow the CHAP Certification Board Standards and Procedures. Knowledge of Inupiaq culture, language and customs preferred. Must be innovative and open to new ideas. Have a positive outlook and be able to interact with a diverse group of customers. Dependable, open, honest, willing to take that extra minute to give feedback in a warm and caring way. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
