Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 is Hiring a Flint Hills Summer Camp Teacher Near Manhattan, KS

Job Brief:

  • The Flint Hills Summer Camp was started in 2010 by parents and continues today as a way to provide a structured, fun summer experience for children with autism-spectrum disorders, other special needs, and peer models. Campers are divided into age groups (about 12 students per group) supervised by a certified teacher and paraprofessionals. The program is held at a USD 383 elementary school each June and July. To ensure full participation, we require campers to sign up for an entire month-long session or the full summer.

:

  • Prevent cognitive regression over summer months.
  • Improve transition between school years.
  • Encourage socialization skills with same-aged peers.
  • Promote physical activity.
  • Provide a safe environment for students to work on individual goals, including academics, communication, gross and fine motor skills, self-esteem, and social skills.

Location: District

Salary:

  • $20.00/hr.

Hours Per Day:

  • Classroom Teacher: 7.5 hours/day, Monday-Friday
  • Specials Teacher: 3 hours/ 2 days a week

Days Per Year:

  • June- July 2024

FLSA Status:

  • Non-Exempt.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

Reports To:

  • Director of Flint Hills Camp

Job Duties:

  • Plan for and deliver differentiated academic and social instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and paras.
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Follow the guidelines of IEPs for students receiving ESY services
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
