Manhattan Christian College is Hiring an ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR Near Manhattan, KS

Adjunct Instructors:
College Algebra, Statistics, Economics, History, and Philosophy
Adjunct instructors teach one or more on-campus courses in their area of expertise. The instructor may also have the opportunity to teach a section of a course online.
Work Activities
The following represent the general teaching activities for this position but are not exhaustive.
Teaching Activities
  • Facilitate face-to-face classroom experiences

    • Lecture
    • Group Discussions
    • Experiential Learning Activities
  • Facilitate online learning experiences (if available)
    • Course design
    • Instructional Videos
    • Variety of Instructional Materials
  • Create a syllabus that clearly communicates the course schedule and how formative and summative assignments meet the course objectives
  • Update syllabi for each course offering to reflect updated resources
  • Utilize MCC’s LMS
    • Post assignments and resources
    • Communicate with students regarding course material and assignments
    • Keep an up-to-date grade book
  • Prepare for class sessions utilizing a system of lesson planning conducive to the professor’s style
  • Participate in course assessment in conjunction with the general studies department head.
  • Follow established expectations and protocols for the general studies department

Tools & Equipment
Adjunct instructors use computers, copy machines, classroom projectors/monitors, and other teaching tools regularly.
Job Context
Adjunct instructors spend most of their time in a climate-controlled classroom. Workspace is available in the faculty commons. Physical demands include movement between classrooms, campus buildings, and offices. Relationally, the position requires communication with other professors and the general studies department head as needed.
Work Performance
The VP of Academics evaluates the work performance of each professor.

  • Student evaluations
  • Observations from the VP of Academics, the General Studies Department Head, or other peers

Compensation Information
Adjunct instructor pay is $818 per credit hour. All courses are 3 credit hours.
Competencies
Upon hire, the adjunct instructor must meet the following criteria:
  • At least 18 graduate credit hours in their field (a master’s degree is preferred)

  • Teaching experience at the high school or college undergraduate level
  • Computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with learning management systems
  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Active listening skills
  • The ability to adapt and maintain a positive orientation to change and to learn new methodologies, technologies, and systems
  • A strong work ethic and ability to prioritize and complete all job responsibilities
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and productivity
  • The ability to make decisions and meet deadlines
  • The ability to navigate conflict
  • Relationship skills that demonstrate emotional maturity and the ability to connect with students and other employees
  • A demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith
