Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Designer to join our team. As a Technical Designer, you will be responsible for translating design concepts into technical specifications and ensuring the accuracy and quality of garment construction. Your expertise in product management, Adobe Illustrator, and garment construction will be essential. The person in this role will work collaboratively with pattern makers, designers, and production in the development of technical designs of coverups and swimwear.

Responsibilities:

Technical Designer Essential Responsibilities

  • Create from design sketch handover and determine specifications in the Company’s product line management (PLM) system.
  • Design technical sketches for full package garments.
  • Handle all communication with overseas and/or domestic manufacturers and vendors and document as necessary in the PLM system for the efficient and accurate completion of deliverables.
  • Collaborate with designers and patternmakers to replace untenable elements for feasible alternatives.
  • Create contingency plans to address unexpected production issues.
  • Assist in PLM setups for pattern team as necessary.
  • Maintain construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality.
  • Evaluate garments and conduct inspections to ensure compliance of specifications, construction, quality, and fit intent.
  • Performs spec reviews of all received samples for accuracy and consistency.
  • Have technical conversations with vendors to discuss quality and fit issues and escalations.
  • Partner with manager to determine strategies for the season or program.
  • Create detailed technical drawings and diagrams using industry standard software.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve any technical issues during the manufacturing process.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and technologies related to garment construction.

Production Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of the samples approval process which will include inputting data of the sample approval comments and images into the company’s PLM system.
  • Manages and report sample status, i.e.: (1) Maintain and update as necessary a sample library by status, brands, and season. (2) Manage and control of status in the PLM system.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and with vendors via PLM or e-mail about approvals or rejection status based on pattern makers’ and designers’ fitting feedback.

Other responsibilities

  • Act as a team player and be able to work closely with other team members to help manage overall workload.
  • Maintain daily reports of items “in work” with an up-to-date trackable status of each item.
  • Other functions and responsibilities as assigned in support of the Company’s objectives.

Minimum Requirements:
· 4 years’ experience in apparel product development and/or apparel technical design and construction or a combination of experience with education in fashion design.

· Knowledge of garment construction, textile materials, basic fabric properties and patternmaking

· Experience with any PLM system.

· Must have strong experience with Adobe Illustrator.

· Excellent problem-solving skills.

· Strong verbal and written communication.

· Proficient with MS Office applications (strong Excel, Word, Outlook)

· Knowledge of garment fit.

· Experience communicating with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers.

· Exceptional analytical and time-management skills.

· Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.

· Driven and results oriented.

· Extreme attention to details.

. Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, sit for prolonged periods of time and walk, and stand occasionally. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones and industry specific software systems.
