Description

Join our team as we seek a dynamic individual to serve as a program coordinator, responsible for crafting and executing exciting and interactive programs tailored to 3rd-5th grade participants. This role will involve designing elevated programming for our aftercare program, planning entertaining weekend drop-off activities, organizing engaging experiences during field trips, and assuming a leadership position within Camp Shalom. Normal working hours will include some evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, leadership skills, and a passion for fostering meaningful experiences for children in a diverse and inclusive environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Planning and implementation of age-appropriate programs and activities for 3rd-5th grade participants in our aftercare, camps, and weekend programs.

· Responsible for creating appropriate relationships with children and families to help with recruitment and attendance of programs.

· Maintain clear and open communication with parents/guardians, providing updates on program activities, scheduling, and any relevant information.

· Provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling for campers to encourage personal and social development.

· Complete necessary paperwork, such as attendance records, incident reports, and evaluation

· Work collaboratively with staff members across departments to coordinate logistics, share resources, and optimize program offerings.

· Continuously assess program effectiveness and participant feedback to adjust and improve as needed.

· Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and safety protocols to always ensure the well-being and security of program participants.

· Leadership Role at Camp Shalom summer camp and in Beyond the Bell aftercare program.

· Performs additional duties as agreed upon by the supervisor.

The position requires occasional internal interaction with employees, parents, supervisors, officers, board members, and other agency personnel and community members. You would be responsible for maintaining positive, courteous, and professional relationships with families and children enrolled in the youth and camp programs, all JCC staff, professional staff from other related agencies, and the greater community.

Minimum Position Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

· 3 years working with program development and working with 3rd-5th graders.

· Demonstrates excellent communication skills, sensitivity, and comfort in engaging with people of all ages.

· Passionate about Judaism and Jewish communal life.

· Energized by kids.

· Excellent oral and written skills.

· Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands.

· Flexible and able to meet changing work needs and demands.

· Excellent organizational and supervisory skills.

· Plans and utilizes time effectively with minimal supervision.

· Ability to work collaboratively with staff and community members.

· A sense of humor and a passion for learning are essential.

· Cultural responsiveness and an alignment to our values and commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Ability to exert moderate physical efforts which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weights (up to 50lbs), bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, and sitting.

· Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

· Must have visual and auditory ability to supervise participants and staff, and to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to program activities.

· Attending events and programs to gather content to use in digital media.

· Ability to interact with parents, children, and staff in a fun, professional manner.

· Noise level can be moderate to loud.

· Frequent exposure to outside elements, such as sun exposure, heat, humidity, and rain.
