Manatt's Transportation Operations Supervisor supervises and coordinates activities onsite of drivers engaged in delivering products and construction equipment to plant sites, job sites, and customers by performing the following duties. This is a FT Seasonal hourly position approximately April to November.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct supervisor of drivers.
• Highly engaged with Logistics Specialists collaborating frequently on drivers’ performance.
• Provide regular feedback to drivers on Lytx, Elite’s, performance management, etc.
• Provide effective coaching and assistance on safety matters both proactive and reactive.
• Build the team up and find ways to celebrate success of the team and make it known.
• Visit job sites and routes for drivability, at times act as traffic control on chaotic job sites.
• Hands on management of assets and remote job sites controlling needed supplies.
• Investigates onsite haul routes prior to bidding and/or project start up.
• Oversees loading and dispatching of trucks onsite.
• Plans routes and communicates schedules to drivers and trucks for delivery of products and equipment.
• Ensures planned routes and schedules are maintained.
• Communicates with logistics coordinators, supervisors, plant managers, job foremen, and outside customers for movement of aggregates, other materials, and equipment.
• Coordinates with logistics coordinators to assist in deliveries to projects and plant sites.
• Ensures requisition of permits for oversize and overweight loads.
• Approves and codes timecards, fuel tickets, and delivery tickets.
• Helps communicate truck assignments onsite according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, and freight requirements.
• Issues record sheets and credentials to drivers.
• Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio or other available communication method.
• Issues various equipment onsite such as material handling supplies, maintenance supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assigns helpers to drivers.
• May occasionally be required to load/unload trucks.
• May occasionally be required to drive or escort a commercial motor vehicle.
• During absence of other dispatch personnel, additional tasks may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises drivers in the trucking division. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
