Manatee County Sheriff's Office is Hiring a Fleet Parts Assistant Near FL 34207, FL

Performs various support duties within the Fleet Maintenance Service Unit. Works closely with Fleet Technicians to order vehicle and equipment repair parts. Manages parts inventory and shop assets. Maintains inventory stock levels at multiple Fleet locations. Assist with scheduling and maintenance tracking for agency vehicles and equipment repair. Assists vendors and management as directed.
  • Ability to review documents such as repair orders, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; compile data and information for reports; compose letters and memorandums; and explain policies and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately enter and promptly retrieve information from various computer systems and programs.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, or other documentation as required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to proof own work.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to perform other clerical duties such as filing, answering the phone, and compiling correspondence.
  • Ability to type.
  • Ability to travel to Fleet Services and remote vendor locations to take physical inventory and maintain accurate records of MCSO assets.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate stocking levels, prepare restocking orders for inventories, and submit for approval to the Fleet Director.
  • Ability to verify vendor work orders to work performed on MCSO vehicles.
  • Ability to verify vendors follow policies and procedures as described in their contracts.
  • Knowledge of general office policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Ability to obtain knowledge of maintenance schedules and notify assigned personnel.
  • Skill in using office equipment, including computers and various software applications.
  • Required to speak and hear clearly. Often required to sit and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb stairs or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Requires close vision.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must successfully pass MCSO's driver training course within a probationary period and utilize an MCSO vehicle in performing duties.
  • Provides information, assistance, and services to employees and others in person, by telephone, or by other forms of communication.
  • Prepares and maintains written correspondence as required.
  • Performs routine computer-related duties, including data entry and retrieval.
  • Performs routine clerical, scanning, and filing duties.
  • Maintains accurate records of office files, libraries, and inventory files.
  • Completes all assignments to duties to directed specifications, within the specified timeframe and budget, and in accordance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Arrives on time for work, limits breaks and lunches to the allotted time, and leaves on time. Uses leave by General Order. Communicates and cooperates with management in providing proper notice of leave, patterns, and amounts of leave usage (not including legitimate, properly scheduled, and approved leave and protected leave).
  • The volume of work accomplished is consistent with position requirements and produced within quality tolerance standards.
  • Works with other team members to achieve goals by contributing ideas in group settings, accepting ideas contributed by others, operating within team rules, participating in team activities (i.e., meetings), working with team members to improve job knowledge and skills, putting team goals over personal goals, and supporting team leaders once decisions are made.
  • Follows office procedures, safety policies and procedures, and Agency General Orders.
  • Foster positive interpersonal connections by encouraging employees to respond emotionally and verbally in a respectful manner towards the public, fellow colleagues, and supervisors. This policy extends to the overall image of the employee's project, encompassing aspects such as cleanliness and personal grooming.
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Must have one year of experience in the supply/warehouse/parts/auto repair industry.
  • Accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
