 The Manatee County Public Safety Department consists of six divisions each serving a special purpose or function to ensure the safety of our citizens and to preserve or enhance the quality of life in the County. The Public Safety Department works daily with citizens, elected officials and other county law enforcement and fire agencies toward these ends. The common thread among these Public Safety divisions is that they respond directly to the needs of the citizens of Manatee County, often for emergencies and sometimes for routine community services.
Senior Pool Lifeguard OPS - Seasonal - Serving in a supervisory capacity, under the direction of Center Director and Recreation Coordinator(s). Responsible for the safety of patrons at Manatee County aquatic facilities, taking actions necessary to maintain a safe environment and prevent injury. Performs related duties as assigned. Position is subject to flexible work schedules, including weekends and holidays.
*Mandatory Tryouts: To be considered for the Seasonal OPS Pool Lifeguard position you will be required to attend one of the swim tryout events on the below scheduled dates. Candidates who pass the minimum qualifications in our application process will be sent additional information regarding tryouts such as event location, event times, and testing requirements. Conditional offers of employment and background testing will be completed that day upon a successful pass and completion of swim tryouts. Additional tryout dates may be added based on application volume. Tryout dates will not be added to accommodate candidate availability.

• March 28th
• May 4th

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification; Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Must possess current American Red Cross CPR-Professional Rescuer/AED and First Aid
• Hiring preference is given to those who are certified and American Red Cross WSI.
• Must have 2 seasons of life guarding experience. (A season is considered 3 months long.
