Reports to the Recreation Supervisor. Assists in planning organizing, and implementing group and one-on-one recreational activities both in the home and community settings. Assists individuals to recover basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, build confidence and socialize effectively to reduce or eliminate the effects of their illness or disability. Acts as a role model to the volunteers. Must have a valid drivers license, and have a driving record that meets the requirements by the agency auto insurance.
Hours:
Part -Time -Typically 2 evening shifts, and 2 day time shifts, hours vary week to week according to activities.
Full-Time -Typical hours would be 9a-5p, 9a-1p, 1p-5p, 12p-8p, or 4p-8p
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervises and assists in planning and preparing both group recreational programs, and one-to-one activity programs.
2. Escorts and transports individuals to and from recreational activities.
3. Demonstrates and teaches art and hobby skills to individuals.
4. Assesses and completes reports for annual IPP as directed by supervisor.
5. Documents and ensures proper implementation of individuals’ programs as required.
6. Assists individuals with dressing, personal hygiene and grooming including toileting when necessary.
7. Attends staff meetings and company-sponsored in-service programs.
8. Completes documentation necessary for programming activities including but not limited to observation log, behavioral log, individual census, and any necessary unusual incident reports.
9. Prepares and maintains financial information for individuals for vacations and outing / trip requests and purchase requisitions.
10. Assures compliance with documentation on local, state and federal laws.
11. Cleans, stores, and inventories equipment for safety.
12. Interviews and monitors individuals during recreational activities for an effective program.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma / GED
Bachelor's Degree in recreation therapy or in a specialty area such as, art, music, or physical education, or a human service related field is preferred.
