Management Recruiters of Tallahassee is Hiring a Maintenance & Automation Technician Near Bakersfield, CA

Position Overview:
As a Maintenance and Automation Technician in a plastic molding operation, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment and automated systems used in the production of plastic molded parts. Your expertise will encompass electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems, enabling you to handle various aspects of the maintenance and automation process. You will work closely with engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel to ensure the successful implementation and optimal performance of all systems, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Commissioning of Equipment and Automation Systems:
Install and set up equipment, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components, according to engineering specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
Configure and integrate automation systems, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), robotic controllers, servo drives, stepper motor controllers, and related equipment.
Collaborate with engineers and contractors to ensure the seamless integration of automation systems into the plastic molding operation.
2. System Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on all equipment, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems, robotic systems, conveyors, injection molding machines, and other related machinery.
Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components, identifying root causes and implementing appropriate solutions.
Conduct preventive maintenance activities on all relevant systems to minimize unexpected downtime.
3. System Programming and Optimization:
Program, configure, and optimize automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robotic controllers, servo drives, stepper motor controllers, and related electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic controls.
Collaborate with engineers and process technicians to develop and implement automation solutions for improved efficiency and quality.
Conduct system testing, fine-tuning, and optimization to ensure optimal performance of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems.
4. Production Support and Monitoring:
Monitor all equipment during production to identify any deviations or abnormalities in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor operations.
Respond promptly to alarms, errors, or breakdowns in any of the systems, taking appropriate action to resolve issues.
Collaborate with operators to provide technical support, training, and troubleshooting guidance as needed for all equipment.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of equipment installation, maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications for all equipment.
Generate reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and downtime related to all equipment, to support data-driven decision making.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation systems and processes for electrical, pneumatic, plumbing, and facilities.
6. Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations and building codes.
Identify and address potential safety hazards associated with the installation and operation of automation equipment.
Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to maintenance and automation.
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in automation, mechatronics, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and or plumbing.
Proven experience as a maintenance and automation technician or in a similar role, preferably in a plastic molding environment, with expertise in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing.
Strong knowledge of automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo drives, stepper motor controllers, as well as electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic controls.
Proficient in programming languages relevant to automation and electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems, such as ladder logic or structured text.
Familiarity with plastic molding processes, equipment, and related systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor components.
Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions related to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, servo, and stepper motor systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
