Mammoth Biosciences is Hiring an Associate Scientist / Scientist I (Cell Culture Specialist) Near Brisbane, CA

OPPORTUNITY

Mammoth Biosciences has an opportunity for an Associate Scientist/Scientist I to maintain multiple mammalian cell lines for multiple teams and prepare cells arrayed into multi-well plates upon request. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and managing requests from multiple teams and reliably delivering their requested cells as well as combine a mix of manual and automated workflows to maintain and seed cell cultures into multi-well plates. This role will work closely with high-throughput screening and automation personnel to build on existing workflows and improve them. The Associate Scientist/Scientist I will be given the opportunity to develop broader experience in advanced cell culture techniques, diverse automation platforms and emerging technology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance of multiple mammalian cell lines
  • Seeding of multi-well plates using automated liquid handlers
  • Inventory management and maintenance of tissue culture laboratory reagents
  • Organize and manage requests for cells from across the company
  • Reliably deliver cells in multi-well plates, petri dishes or flasks as requested 
  • On-board and maintain new cell lines when requested and adjust conditions for their maintenance
  • Cell line QC and characterization including confluency, cell counts and contamination via monthly mycoplasma testing 
  • Perform troubleshooting of cell culture issues and optimizing culture conditions to improve cell growth, viability, and functionality
  • Occasionally troubleshoot equipment, media formulations or culture protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation and record keeping including cell line histories, experimental protocols, and data analysis using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs)
  • Utilize effective communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including timely updates on cell culture status or addressing concerns or questions.
  • May require occasional training and coordination with teammates to manage request fulfillment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's 4-6 yrs of experience or Master's with 2-4 yrs of experience 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience maintaining mammalian cell lines
  • Proficiency with Aseptic technique
  • Proficiency with Cryopreservation
  • Ability to follow written SOP
  • Ability to prepare media from recipe
  • Experience with routine monitoring via tissue-culture microscopy 
  • Ability to routinely perform calculation of cell counts and for cell line passaging and seeding densities 
  • Ability to evaluate confluence level of a cell-line
  • Proficiency in basic data analysis including interpretation of experimental results, statistical analysis and presentation of findings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years of industry experience
  • Experience maintaining multiple cell lines
  • Experience with automated liquid handlers
  • Experience with electronic lab notebooks 
  • Experience with HEK293T cell lines
  • Experience performing viability assays
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced research environment

Base Salary Range: $ 120,600 - $142,170

The listed base salary range is for Mammoth employees in the Bay Area. Actual base salary will be determined by geographic work location, relevant professional experience, applicable skills, and internal equity. The base salary range for those working remotely outside of the San Francisco Bay Area may differ and will be determined by industry market data for the role and specific region.
