POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose and general scope of the job

Perform skilled piping maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of Pipe systems valves and controls, piping systems of water, steam, chilled water, and process flu ids.

  • Inspect, repair, modify and install piping, pipe welding valves, system and process control components.
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout and troubleshooting for piping systems, piping controls and related components
  • Identify required tools and special equipment
  • Select the type and size of pipe and valves required
  • Locate and mark positions for connections, equipment, and system components
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, components and equipment
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Install, repair and maintain HVAC, piping and process controls
  • Install, repair and maintain water heaters and conditioners
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on piping systems and control valves
  • Apply all codes to installations , repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good physical health, strength and stamina
  • Ability to work alone and as a member of a team .
  • Technical Skills:
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints and interpret specifications
  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Ability to understand and apply industry standards for installation, repairs and safety
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment
  • Ability to operate computer-based equipment
  • Familiarity with computerized IWMS/CMMS work order process
  • Adaptability to work in a diverse environment, focusing on customer satisfaction under high-stress conditions, and organize an effective response to day-to-day and one-of-a-kind extremes
  • Communications skills that invite credibility, loyalty, trust and commitment among key stakeholders in operations , critical facilities, events, and line supervisors
  • Responsiveness to supervisory direction, productivity, quality and commitment
  • Administrative coordination, regarding job assignments, productivity, time management
  • Demonstrated ability to learn maintenance
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing resources and establishing
  • Skills in using predictive maintenance techniques and simplified root cause analysis of equipment
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to non-technical or production
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of the operating practices of preventive maintenance .
