Major League Baseball is Hiring a Director, Technical Program Management- Media Ops Near New York, NY

Join Major League Baseball's dynamic Media Operations team as a Director of Technical Program Management, focusing on Broadcast Technology and Operations. We are searching for individuals passionate about the broadcast/streaming industry and dedicated to advancing the technology supporting it. As part of MLB's Media Operations, you will be assisting the Broadcast and Replay Technology teams in spearheading the development of modern, flexible video systems delivering content to MLB fans globally as well as facilitating the adjudication of the game of baseball.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
  • Strong familiarity with modern broadcast standards and technology, particularly ST 2110, is highly desirable.
  • Strong familiarity with modern video IP transport standards and technology, including IP codecs and transport protocols is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with agency management stakeholders, cross-team business leads, and vendors, with the ability to tailor communication as needed.
  • 5-10 years of experience in media operations, broadcast technology, streaming engineering, or related fields.
  • Previous broadcast engineering experience is desirable but not required.
  • Experience using the AGILE methodologies is desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to set challenging yet realistic goals for self and others.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead team projects and provide organizational support for various broadcast technology initiatives and related projects.
  • Manage multiple initiatives concurrently, overseeing entire project lifecycles from research to implementation.
  • Collaborate with team leadership to devise, document, execute, and promote strategies for next-generation media technology and associated projects.
  • Coordinate with Broadcast and Replay technology leadership to share test plans and strategies with product and streaming engineering teams.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses in Media Systems, collaborating with team leadership to address gaps.
  • Provide frequent and concise communication to a wide range of stakeholders regarding project status, issues, and risks across a portfolio of projects; effectively communicate complex and/or difficult information to both technical and non-technical audiences, including Executives.
  • Prepare executive weekly status reports using fact-based Key Performance Indicators and issue tracking.
  • Work with the Broadcast and Replay Technology team to define and maintain a five year technology plan, with an eye on emerging technologies and shifting industry standards.

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $130,000 - $165,000.
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees. MLB offers employees a full range of best in class benefits with no employee contributions towards medical, dental, and vision coverage premiums, as well as incentive and recognition programs, life insurance and automatic employer 401k contributions. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements and the terms of official plan documents which may be modified or amended from time to time.
