Rate: $21.00 per hour

Enhanced Community Living Specialists in the Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) Program play an important role in our unique program that blends careful meal planning with physical exercise within a meaningful community living environment. This contributes to fulfilling the mission of Mainstay: to provide life-long, high-quality support services, ensuring that people with intellectual disabilities and autism lead fulfilling lives and realize their vision of a desirable future. The specialist does this by supporting people with daily activities such as preparing meals, administering medication, and providing transportation to work or community activities to promote socially valued roles and independence. The specialist offers direct care, support, and services to people with intellectual disabilities and autism in daily living, social, and recreational activities.

Responsibilities

• Care for those served with dignity and respect while providing them an opportunity to exercise choice
• Monitoring food intake and implementation of a PWS specific low-calorie diet
• Integrate those served within the community; organize and implement activities within person’s home and/or community
• Provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and therapeutic living environment for those served
• Encourage, guide, and train those served to develop competencies, including daily living skills, social skills, and interpersonal skills
• Administer medications and other health care services as prescribed by person’s health providers. This may include administering oral, topical, and/or injected medications
• Adhere to documentation and reporting requirements
• Assess and evaluate behaviors and skills of those served and complete written assessments
• Participating in additional learning opportunities related to supporting a person with PWS
• Develop and implement goal plans as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Complete written service notes and report billing hours as directed
• Attend and actively participate in scheduled, mandatory staff meetings, meetings with the person’s support team (as necessary), training seminars, and supervisory sessions

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license
• Eligibility for Act 33/34 clearances
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Pre-employment drug screen required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred and one year expereince working with adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, and/or Prader-Willi Syndrome -OR- High school diploma and two years experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities and autism, and/or Prader-Willi Syndrome accepted.
